Review of Archos 5 Leather Case by Noreve

Archos_5_leather_case106.jpg Archos 5 Noreve Leather Case Review

Style: 8
The style is basic and simple, but nice for any type of customer.
Protection: 7.5
The bottom and sides of the Archos are exposed, but that’s the toll for having complete Archos functionality while inside the case.
Functionality: 10
The Archos is able to function entirely while in the case, and the foldable stand allows you to be able to watch the screen with the Archos upright.
Overall: 8.5
(not an average) Not a bad case at all. It is simple and elegant and will protect the Archos just enough to allow the Archos to function entirely while remaining in the case.

Color
The two cases I’ve been provided with are the Sandy Vintage and Ocean Blue, though there are other color options to choose from on NoreveUSA.com. The Sandy Vintage is the textured material, but is still smooth, and is a little weathered looking but that’s the point of the Vintage textures. The Ocean Blue color is a very nice blue, just a solid, deep, smooth blue color. Both are very nice-looking.

Quality of Materials
The leather on this Dark Vintage case is top quality, and as described above the Vintage look makes the case seem worn or aged, but it is done purposefully by the crafters to specifically give it a vintage look. The straight, tight stitching adds not only extra protection but also a classy, high-quality look. All of the phone cut-outs are symmetrical and lined up carefully. After closely examining this Noreve phone case, it is very obvious that these cases are hand-crafted with care and diligence.

Fit and Design
Similar to the majority of Noreve’s cases, slide the device into place to fit against the rail system. The Archos will feel very snug and is hard to slide in and out of the case, but one way I found to make it easier is to lightly pull one of the side rails to fit the Archos in or pull it out. Otherwise, when in place, it is very snug and secure. Once the device is situated in the case, simply fold the top flap over and snap it into place. On the back side of the case Noreve has designed a foldable stand to hold the Archos upright. This stand is nice other than the fact that you have to work with the leather a bit to make sure the stand will actually hold the Archos up. The Sandy Vintage was having a harder time than the Ocean Blue case, and that could be due to the different textures of the leather. In the interior of the case there are two business card slots and one slot for the Archos’ stylus. As far as the design of the case goes, I’m not so sure how protective this case is. That said, I don’t necessarily think that is Noreve’s fault. The reason is, Noreve has allowed openings for all basic functions of this Archos device which becomes a problem because that leaves the bottom and half of the sides of the Archos unprotected. So which is better? A case that is protected but the Archos cannot function while inside, or a case that has less protection but that allows for the Archos to function entirely? I’d say it’s the latter, but I did want to bring up that concern. (You’ll be able to see from the pictures we’ve provided for you of the different angles of the case). Otherwise the basic design of the case is nice and the tight, hand-crafted stitching adds style to the look of the case.

*Also note that this case is compatible with Archos 5 120GB, 160GB, and 250GB, and is compatible with Archos FM remote and Mini Dock.

Protection
I already mentioned it, but my only concern as far as protection goes is the bottom and side portion of the Archos. The screen is completely protected, however, as well as the entire back side. The nice leather and padding provides a great protection to everything that is covered.

Conclusion
This isn’t my #1 Noreve case thus far, but I would say that it is high-quality as usual, the foldable stand is a nice added feature, and Noreve does allow for the Archos to function completely while in the case. This case will meet the needs of any customer who simply wants a case for basic security and full Archos functionality.
